Justin Borak is a guy who makes art sometimes and plays on his phone.
Justin Borak is a Lebanese-American playwright based out of New York City. He was named a finalist for the 2025 Lanford Wilson New American Play prize for haters gonna hate, was named a finalist for Noor Theatre’s Reading Series, Breaking and Entering Summer Development Series and won the Playhouse on the Square New Works Festival for White Walls, and was selected for Ripple Effect’s 2024-2025 Writer’s Cohort for Kinda Sick. Other plays include A Writer’s Room (Broadway Licensing, West Virginia Public Theatre), Don Pedro Fucks (Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival, NYU), and his youth catalog with Playscripts including Community Garden, Cabin Chronicles, and Thank You For Shopping! In his work as a company member with Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival, he was recently selected to be the curator and editor for the Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival New Works Collection starting the summer of 2026 and to be published by 1319 Press.
He has been awarded residencies with The Workshop Theatre, The Skeleton Rep, Ripple Effect Theatre Company, Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival and was the recipient of the 2023 Broadway Licensing New Works Grant. He is the host of the playwright interview podcast, The Scene, where he has worked with playwrights like John Cariani, Lauren Gunderson, Douglas Lyons, Sandy Rustin and Ngozi Anyanwu.
